The last days of Earth were quiet and peaceful. The wind still blew gently, and birds sang their final songs as they soared across the sky. Yet, within that peace lay a profound sadness. Humanity was preparing to leave Earth.
In the year 2123, Earth’s resources were depleted, and the environment had deteriorated to an extreme extent. Rising sea levels due to climate change, along with severe air pollution, made breathing difficult. Massive natural disasters and pandemics had become a part of everyday life, and the fight for survival seemed endless. Thus, humanity turned its eyes to space in search of a new home.
Nova City, the last remaining metropolis, became the center of the Space Migration Project. After decades of research and development, humans finally discovered a new planet, 'Eden', and acquired the technology to migrate there. The residents of Nova City had completed their preparations for departure, and large spacecraft lined the city.
Earth had only a few days left. Sarah was Nova City's last ecologist. Instead of hastily packing for the migration, she chose to savor her final moments with Earth. She ventured out of the city and headed to the forest where she had spent her childhood.
The forest held many memories for Sarah. Times spent planting trees with her father and catching fish by the river. Everything felt like it was both the first and the last time she would experience it. She sat beneath a large tree, taking in her surroundings. Leaves rustled in the breeze, and birds chirped in the distance.
"Will we truly be happy if we leave this place?" Sarah asked herself. It was a question no one could answer. The new planet promised many things, but whether it could replace the emotions and memories Earth had given was unknown.
Sarah took out a small capsule from her pocket. It contained soil, leaves, and small flower seeds from Earth. She planned to bring it to Eden and plant a piece of Earth in their new home. Gently, she dug a small hole and buried the capsule.
"Goodbye, Earth. And thank you," Sarah whispered softly.
A few days later, the spacecraft began to depart one by one. Sarah was among the last to leave. As she boarded the ship, she took one final look at Earth. The blue planet remained as beautiful as ever.
As the spacecraft took off, Sarah’s heart was filled with both hope and sorrow. She vowed to cherish the memories and lessons Earth had given her while building a new life on Eden.
The spacecraft gradually moved farther away, and Earth became a small dot. But in Sarah’s heart, Earth was still alive. She knew that no matter how small that dot became, it would never truly disappear.
